The Chamber of Deputies of Argentina, with the collaboration of the IGF Parliamentary Track, hosts the First Regional Summit of Parliamentarians: Artificial intelligence and the Latin American Agenda, to be held at the Chamber of Deputies in Buenos Aires City, Argentina, and online, from 13 to 14 June 2024.
The Summit encourages regional collaboration, and the exchange of knowledge and best practices related to AI technologies for further decision making. The Summit showcases the role of parliaments and explores concrete actions to consolidate a common regional position on issues related to AI, to create appropriate regulatory frameworks, and to promote responsible innovation, while protecting fundamental rights and values.
Starting with the Regional Summit, the IGF will develop a series of activities dedicated to parliamentarians from the region to have sustained conversations. The IGF plans on hosting a Parliamentary Track alongside the Latin America and the Caribbean IGF to be held in November 2024 in Chile, leading up to the annual IGF taking place from 15 to 19 December 2024 in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Participation and Registration
The Summit is open to all Latin American parliamentarians and expert staff of parliaments, both to those who work in ICT-related committees that deal with the topic of AI and to those who are willing to learn from and participate in discussions around these technologies. Interested participants from all stakeholder groups are also welcome to participate in the Summit.

Outcomes
Parliamentarians from Latin America are invited to discuss the proposed issues with experts during panel discussions, share their views, explore the questions at hand, and exchange opinions and experience on existing or potential legislative solutions. Working groups are organized among Parliamentarians on each day, following the panel discussions that they have had with experts.
The key messages that emerge from the exchanges, including the final presentation from the workgroups, will be captured as the formal, action-oriented output.
These outputs will be presented at the regional Parliamentary Track alongside the Latin America and Caribbean IGF taking place in November 2024 in Chile and at the annual IGF in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 15 to 19 December 2024. The regional and annual IGF could serve as platforms to hold further multistakeholder consultations of the working group’s output.
