Hon. Alhagie Mbow is an elected Lawmaker from the Gambia National Parliament since 2017 and is currently serving his second five-year term. Hon Mbow is the chairperson of the committee on Education, Training and ICT of the National Assembly of the Gambia and the Vice chairperson on the Committee for Finance & Public Accounts in the Gambia National Parliament. Hon. Mbow represents the Gambia in the Pan African Parliament-an organ of the African Union, in Johannesburg, South Africa where is the chairperson of the West African Group of Parliamentarians and a member of the committee on Transport, Industry, Communication, Energy, Science and Technology.
Hon Mbow is the Co-founder and vice chairperson of the African Parliamentary Network on Internet Governance (APNIG)- an organization dedicated to advance the legislative role for a digital world that is safe, inclusive and innovative.
Hon. Mbow was appointed by the United Nations Secretary-General as a member of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) on Internet Governance Forum since 2021 which is a voluntary work that brings all stakeholders at country, regional and continental levels to discuss issues for the advancement of the Internet across the globe. Hon Alhagie has worked in the private sector- (ICT and Banking) for almost 30 years holding various managerial and senior leadership positions in Standard Chartered Bank, AT& T Corporation, Ecobank Gambia and Lasting Solutions Limited. Hon. Alhagie holds various degrees in Information Technology (MSc., BSc, ASc.) coupled with various leadership and technical training.
