Format description: This will be a panel with a classroom style townhall. We wish to engage with the audience on addressing the important topic of job creation.
Description: In 2022, the tech world saw many layoffs. There is an unemployment crisis going on in the world. But key stakeholders are not focusing on clear mapping of the problem’s solutions. As the world moves towards digitalization, we are currently looking at job loss instead of more job creation with innovation. An average job creation costs a lot from skills, training, development, technology, infrastructure, and other utilities. It’s essential now to discuss what is needed for job creation and lay out proper planning for governments and other stakeholders to work upon.
The session will have a mix of onsite and online panelists and participants. We expect to engage with the audience on the important topic of the Cost of job creation.

17. Partnerships for the Goals
Targets: As per recent data from the World Bank, every 1% increase in employment leads to a 0.6% increase in GDP growth. Based on the study by Dr. Rajendra Pratap Gupta, where he brought out this concept of 'Cost of Job Creation', ( Ref. Book : Your Vote is Not Enough) he put forth that in India, a 1% increase in GDP leads to 7,50,000 jobs and the cost of job creation is most for MSMEs. His hypothesis is, that smaller entities create job at a lesser investment. Providing opportunities for employment is essential for fostering economic growth and maintaining social stability. Jobs enable individuals to support themselves and their families, as well as drive consumer spending and stimulate local economies. As more individuals gain employment, there is a rise in demand for goods and services, resulting in the growth of businesses and the creation of additional job opportunities.
On the SDG 8, we can not have gainful employment unless we know the cost of employment. If we have gainful employment for a member of a household we would be on our path to achieve SDG 1 which is no poverty. And this can not be achieved without a multistakeholder partnerships i.e, SDG 17, the Partnerships for the Goals.
