IGF 2023 Open Forum #159 Socially, Economically, Environmentally Responsible Campuses

This session explores Smart Campus strategies & roadmaps for universities to build socially, economically, environmentally responsible smart campuses. It will provide participants with an insight into a new public / private partnership (PPP) led by the University of Tokyo, Infosys, and others, facilitated by the G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance, creating a Global Campus Network that explores strategies for transforming governance, technologies and infrastructure to make campuses and buildings net zero. The session will be moderated by members of the G20 Global Smart Cities Alliance, including built environment industry experts in design, technology, policy, and ESG . The session will be engaging and interactive, and the audience will be invited to feedback on technical and governance frameworks alongside demonstrations of technologies that were developed and tested through a recent hack-a-thon. Background: Smart Campus Strategy & Roadmap for universities to build socially, economically, environmentally responsible smart campuses. Pathway to a Net Zero footprint through a “state of the art” digital infrastructure deploying IT, IOT, and generative AI, etc, reducing energy consumption driving resource efficiency. Full building lifecycle, for Greenfield design and construction and through smart automation retrofit existing buildings with energy efficient equipment, resulting in super-efficient buildings adhering to best practice policies/governance supporting Green Economy. • Integrated gateway app to all student services, schedules etc. • High speed network and data storage for research • Connected facilities for comfort, convenience and ease of campus living • Services for food, entertainment, shopping, recreation & sports, integrated transportation • Engagement with community for projects, services and employment • Connected BMS for Energy, water optimization & sustainable buildings • Collaboration among globally distributed facilities for energy efficiency improvement • Deploying secure student data & profiles, research history, etc. • AI based multimodal smart security surveillance • New age learning paradigms including virtual classrooms and anytime learning

The session will be moderated be leading industry experts in design, technology, policy, and ESG for the built environment. Practical frameworks along with cutting edge technologies will be presented along with economic and cultural factors. The partners presenting the session will also feature live demonstrations of technology that was developed and tested through a hack-a-thon and a live PoC operation that were specifically held to create and establish solutions to be presented. Experts from around the world will join the session through live collaboration technologies. Design decisions will be interactive with the attending audience and a formal Q & A session will be held to provide real-time answers. The session will have a website and social collaboration tools for pre-reads and networking pre and post the session.
