High-level panel followed by breakout sessions and then plenary discussion.
The Declaration for the Future of the Internet (DFI) reasserts a shared vision of the global Internet as a platform for openness and innovation, while promoting and protecting human rights. The DFI principles commit partner countries to: 1. Protect human rights and the fundamental freedoms of all people; 2. Promote a global Internet that advances the free flow of information; 3. Advance inclusive and affordable connectivity so that all people can benefit from the digital economy; 4. Promote trust in the global digital ecosystem, including through protection of privacy; and 5. Protecting and strengthening the multistakeholder approach to governance that keeps the Internet running for the benefit of all. Building upon a side-event held during the July MAG meeting in Geneva, this half-day session will address how governments can work with the multistakeholder community to realize the DFI’s principles. The event will feature high-level introductory remarks followed by breakout sessions aimed at identifying how governments can work with the multistakeholder community to realize the DFI’s five principles.
