Introduction
The Dynamic Coalition on Environment (DCE) is a multi-stakeholder initiative under the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), committed to exploring the intricate relationship between the environment and the digital world. As technology continues to reshape societies, the DCE emphasizes the need to align innovation and economic progress with environmental sustainability.
Every technological advance is not inherently developmental. Every click, every convenience enabled by the internet, carries an unseen environmental cost. Without awareness, we risk remaining oblivious to the true impact of our digital lives.
Background
Established on the foundation of the IGF’s Policy Network on Environment, and its extensive research and findings, the DCE aims to bridge the gap between policy recommendations and actionable strategies. It recognizes that environmental well-being is deeply connected to human health, economic stability, education, and global cooperation.
Current Focus
This year, the DCE is centered on the theme “Environment as Economy and Economy as Environment”, reflecting the urgent need to redefine economic success in ecological terms. The coalition seeks to challenge traditional growth paradigms and advocate for a future where environmental preservation and economic progress are not mutually exclusive but mutually reinforcing.
