Dr. Eng. Olga Cavalli is a distinguished leader in the field of Internet governance and cybersecurity. She is the Co-founder and Director of the South School on Internet Governance (SSIG), a project recognized for its significant contributions to capacity building in Internet governance, having received the ITU WSIS Prize 2024 and the WSIS Champion Prize 2022 for its impact on international and regional cooperation.
Currently, Dr. Cavalli serves as the Dean of the National Defense Faculty of Argentina, where she shapes the future of cyberdefense education and policy. Her previous roles include Undersecretary of Information Technology and National Director of Cybersecurity for Argentina, as well as serving as an advisor to the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she represented Argentina at various international technology forums.
Notably, Dr. Cavalli was the first woman from Latin America to join the ISOC Board of Trustees and has also been a member of the ISOC Foundation Board. Her extensive experience includes serving as Vice Chair of the ICANN Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC) and currently being an active member of the ICANN Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO).
For seven years, she contributed her expertise as a member of the United Nations Secretary-General's Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) for the Internet Governance Forum.
Recognized by ISOC as a “Game Changer”, Olga works towards the inclusion of girls and women in ICTs and the Internet, organizing activities jointly with ISOC, ISOC Argentina Chapter, ITU, UNESCO, ICANN, the Argentina National Centre of Engineers and the University of Buenos Aires.
As an expert in Internet technologies, she was invited by ITU to participate in its Study Group on Internet of Things and Smart Cities, where she was acknowledged as an innovator in this field.
Dr. Cavalli holds an impressive academic background with a Doctorate in Business Management, a Master’s in Business Administration, a Postgraduate Degree in Telecommunications Regulation, and a degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering. She is fluent in Spanish, English, Portuguese, and German, with proficiency in French, Italian, and Dutch.
Olga is a Professor at the University of Buenos Aires and is also involved in the development of internet projects in rural areas of Argentina.
