Register! Benin National Youth IGF

The Benin Youth IGF is excited to extend a warm invitation to you for the upcoming Benin National Youth Internet Governance Forum (IGF) 2024. This edition promises to be insightful and engaging as it delves into the theme: "The Impact of AI on Youth Education and Employment Prospects: Challenges and Opportunities."

Scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in both Cotonou and Parakou, the event will be held in a hybrid format, allowing for maximum participation both in person and virtually.

NRI & SIG Funding: Apply with ISOC Foundation

ISOC Foundation are pleased to announce they are now accepting applications to the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) sponsorship program for 2024! Funding is available for organizations who are directly involved in the planning and execution of IGF-Secretariat recognized National and Regional Initiatives (NRIs) as well as National and Regional Schools on Internet Governance (SIGs). IGF Developing Digital Capacity in SIDS

The IGF Secretariat cooperated with the U.S. Commercial Law Development Programme (CLDP) in developing digital capacity with and for the community of the Maldives. A series of workshops was hosted with Government officials, members of Parliament, members of the Maldives IGF multistakeholder organizing committee and others taking active participation. Over the course of the engagement, the IGF Secretariat focused on ways to elevate multistakeholder voices from Small Island Developing States (SIDS) within the global digital discourse.

Record Participants at Belarus IGF

The Belarus IGF forum, with a record number of participants, was held in Minsk.

The fifth Internet Governance Forum Belarus IGF-2023 was held on November 15 and generated a record number of participants. More than 500 representatives of government agencies, businesses, international and non-profit organizations, the academic and technical communities, as well as ordinary Internet users discussed the most pressing issues of Internet development.

This year's forum included 5 main areas of discussion:

- The Internet we want. Trends, problems, opportunities.

Kazakhstan IGF Hosts First Meeting

The national IGF of Kazakhstan successfully launched its very first annual meeting. Over 150 participants discussed various issues related to public digital policy. The meeting served as a platform for signing the Memorandum on Personal Data Protection by the National Regulators of Kazakhstan and Romania.

3rd Youth IGF Bangladesh Draws Enthusiastic Participation

The 3rd Youth IGF Bangladesh was successfully held from 25th May to 27th May 2023. 

The remarkable event brought together passionate individuals to discuss and explore various Internet governance topics.

Throughout the three-day event, 8 sessions were hosted, featuring 70 esteemed speakers who shared their valuable insights and experiences. 

The participation was overwhelming, with approximately 400 enthusiastic participants joining to engage in meaningful discussions and networking opportunities. 

Weigh in: Youth IGF Nepal 2023

Youth IGF Nepal is seeking strengthen programme and event objectives on the 2nd Youth IGF NEPAL (a multistakeholder model event) by incorporating feedback from the community to build on work and outreach for the improvement of the Internet, making it more accessible and open to all.

Youth IGF Bangladesh Takes Place May 25-27

The Bangladesh Youth IGF are excited to announce the 3rd Youth Internet Governance Forum (Youth IGF) in Bangladesh.

The event will take place on May 25-27, 2023, and will bring together young people, policymakers, academics, civil society representatives, and industry leaders to discuss issues related to creating a safe and inclusive digital future. 

Moldova IGF April 27-28: Register!

This year the Moldova Internet Governance Forum will be held as a hybrid meeting (in-person and online) on April 27 and 28. Digital resilience is identified as the headline theme for MIGF 2023. 

Anyone interested in discussing current Internet governance issues based on a multilateral, transparent and inclusive dialogue is invited to participate in the national initiative. 

Youth IGF Nepal Marks Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day has been celebrated worldwide on February since 2004, with around 180 countries and endorsing the event. This year, to mark the occasion, Youth IGF Nepal and members of the Digital Freedom Coalition organized a High-level Panel on Internet Regulation in Nepal.

During the event, a position paper on Internet Regulation Policy and Practices in Nepal was presented by Mr. Ananda Raj Khanal. The telecom regulator of Nepal, a Hon. Member of Parliament, and the Vice-chair of Nepal Law Commission also addressed the inaugural session.

African IGF Call for Issues: Open until 17 April!

The 12th African Internet Governance Forum (AfIGF-2023) will be held in a hybrid mode and continue discussions begun in 2022. A special emphasis will be placed on UN Digital Initiatives and their relevance to the AU Focus on 2063.

The Multi-Stakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) is therefore opening the call for issues of the 2023 AfIGF program. The Community is invited to submit suggestions for thematic areas the AfIGF 2023 should focus on, bearing in mind the African Union Agenda 2063 and the Digital Transformation Strategy 2030.

Youth IGF Nepal Joins Digital Freedom Coalition

Youth IGF Nepal has joined the Digital Freedom Coalition, a consortium of organizations working in the area of digital freedom, cybersecurity, digital resilience and Internet governance in Nepal. The Coalition aims to coordinate the efforts of member organizations on ensuring privacy online, meaningful access to technology, cybersecurity, Internet governance, freedom of expression online and a resilient digital ecosystem in Nepal.

IGF Greece Wins Best of IDNs Prize at 2022 .Eu Web Awards

The ninth edition of EURid’s annual celebration of the best .eu websites brought together talented individuals and entrepreneurs from across Europe as part of the new .eu Day. Representatives of innovative online companies from Greece, Croatia, Spain, Hungary and the Netherlands with the .eu domain from all over Europe gathered to celebrate their achievements.

ISOC Foundation: Funding Open for NRIs

The Internet Society Foundation is now accepting applications for 2023 sponsorships through our Internet Governance Forum (IGF) funding program! This funding is available to organizations who are directly involved in the planning and execution of a local, national, or regional IGF, a school of Internet Governance, or Youth Internet Governance Forum.

First-Time IGFers at Zambia Remote Hub

The Zambia IGF 2022 Remote Hub was successfully held by the Internet Society Zambia Chapter from 29 November to 1 December at the University of Zambia’s Christian Centre. The Hub was organized to follow live the IGF 2022 convened in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. About 20 participants attended the hub daily. Discussion topics covered cybersecurity, connectivity and accessibility, child safety online, digital literacy, and youth engagement in Internet governance. 

IGF 2022 Hub Held in Yerevan, Armenia

Members of the ISOC Armenia chapter as well as participants from various stakeholder organizations were invited to join the Armenian Hub for IGF 2022, held in Yerevan. 

The hub saw approximately 20 participants on Days 1 and 2. IGF 2022's global perspectives on Internet fragmentation, accessibility, security, and DNS management complemented regionally-specific talks organized for the hub. Participants received free meeting bags, replicating the annual onsite IGF practice, with one participant inspired to join the ISOC Armenia chapter based on their experience.

"Data for Post-Covid Recovery" at Gambia IGF

The 8th Annual Gambia National Internet Governance Forum was held on the 13th and 14th of June 2022 as a hybrid event. The theme for this year's IGF was in line with the theme for the West African IGF, “Digital Sustainability: Data Innovation for Post Covid-19 Recovery.” This two-day event brought together stakeholders in the Internet and Tech Ecosystem of the Gambia to discuss issues related to digital sustainability and progress made so far to build a digital economy.

First SIDS IGF to Take Place alongside Caribbean IGF

The 18th Caribbean Internet Governance Forum (CIGF), taking place 24th to 26th AUGUST 2022 in a virtual format, on the theme "Internet Governance Priorities for ICT-Driven Development", will feature a Youth IGF and the CIGF will also be held jointly with the inaugural Internet Governance Forum for Small Island Developing States (SIDS IGF). Italian IGF & Deputy Minister Meet on Digital Economy

On July 12, Italy IGF will hold a talk with the Deputy Minister of Economy Hon. Laura Castelli on the Italian Government's digital economic strategies. The aim of the debate is to discuss the content of legislative measures issued by the Government and Parliament in support of innovation and digitization of processes, products and services, and to collect ideas based on stakeholders' experiences.

Youth IGF Myanmar Kicks Off

On 2-3 April, Youth IGF (yIGF) Myanmar organized its first-ever annual event, titled “Youth Dialogue on Healthy Digital Lives". Organized virtually, five national and five international guest speakers presented on a range of digital topics, relating to Misinformation, Disinformation and Hate Speech, Social Media, and Mental Health.

Italy IGF Event: Public Administration & Digitization

On May 30th at 8:00 UTC, Italy IGF is hosting a conference on the Digitization of Public Administration and Digital Skills. The conference, part of a series organized by Italy IGF this year, will discuss how to improve the use of e-government services by citizens and the current processes initiated by the Italian Government to foster digital transformation.
